Intensive Russian Attacks Disrupt Power Across Kyiv

Power facilities targeted in the region
The country's power facilities have come under escalating strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's aerial assaults have resulted in blackouts in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were wounded while local people in the city's east were plunged into darkness and faced interruptions to drinking water, as stated by local authorities.

Meanwhile, a minor was fatally injured in a distinct assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Russian forces has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while the country's government has requested "real steps" from allies to apply pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the US, European nations and the G7 - in supplying air defence systems and applying sanctions," he wrote in a social media post.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty projectiles targeted the country's power systems, labeling such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Russia was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were laboring to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles hit power facilities and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the assaults on the city have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by local officials.

Local officials said the metropolitan region endured significant strikes during nighttime hours. A minor died and multiple civilians were hurt.

The attacks follow periods of bombing campaigns in the region, portions of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are tougher to detect.

Government officials told journalists that Russia was purposely seeking to destroy the national power system, with assaults already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated utility staff and government agencies were bracing for further attacks.
